An ocuplastic surgeon is an ophthalmologist with special training in surgery of the eyelids, orbits and lacrimal system. Problems that fall under this definition are benign and malignant tumors of the eyelids; tumors which arise behind the eye; eyelids that turn in (entropion) or out (ectropion); droopy lids (ptosis); baggy lids (blepharochalasis); lashes that irritate the eye (trichiasis); patients who tear too much, or too little (dry eyes); fractures of the boney orbit from trauma; and patients who have thyroid eye conditions.
